The American Gold Eagle is now available to our gold bullion investors. The new edition of this beautiful coin is sure to be as popular as its predecessors.
The American Gold Eagle comes in Brilliant-Uncirculated (BU) condition and is an official gold bullion coin of the United States. The coins are produced in 1/10, ¼, ½, and 1 troy ounce weights by the United States Mint. All of the weights are identical in appearance with the exception of weight description and face value. These substantial coins measure at 27 mm in diameter and 2.24 mm thick and arrive in mint condition to you.
The American Gold Eagle is made of 22 kt gold alloy minted with gold mined exclusively from American resources as stipulated by legislation. Alloyed with silver and copper the coin has a purity of 91.67% or 22k, which is the three hundred and fifty year stand for gold bullion coins. This produces a more wear-resistant coin. The 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle lists a face value of $25 but the value is much more. Each of these beautiful gold coins are guaranteed by the United States Government to contain the stated amount of gold weight in troy ounces and they are the only gold coins specifically approved for investment into IRAs.
The obverse picture of the American Gold Eagle features a lovely depiction of August Saint-Gaudens’ full length figure of Lady Liberty. Lady Liberty has flowing hair as she holds a torch in her right hand and olive branch in her left with the capitol building in the left background of the obverse. The reverse layout is a design by sculptor Miley Busiek. The design features a depiction of a male eagle with olive branch in claw flying above a female eagle and her hatchlings in their nest.
The American Gold Eagle was first released in 1986 by the United States Mint quickly after the passing of the Gold Bullion Act of 1985. The United States Mint was first created by congress after the Coinage Act of 1792 passed and was originally held by the Department of the State. That changed in 1873 when the Department of Treasury begun minting coins after the Coinage Act of 1873 passed. The United States Mint product lines include special coin sets for collectors, national medals, the American Gold Eagle coin, commemorative coins, silver bullion coins, and platinum bullion coins.
Since the original introduction in 1986, the American Gold Eagle has become the most widely traded gold bullion coin in the world. Gold’s five thousand year history of value and desirability continues through the trading of this stunning gold coin.
